Reminiscence, 1815.

Reminiscence, May 4, 1815, of an American sailor describing his adventures and misfortunes on sea, capture by the British, impressment in the British Navy, and imprisonment during the War of 1812. His hand written story covers the period 1807-1815. There are some typed biographical notes which were added at an unknown, later date, by his grandson, Richard W. Oswald and a typed transcript of the reminiscence.

Hall was born in Philadelphia in 1785. He returned home in 1815 after eight years at sea. He was apparently swept to sea a few weeks later, while returning to life as a sailor.
